Do You Have Candida Overgrowth?

Candida is a fungus/yeast that naturally occurs in the body in small amounts. When that small amount becomes a large amount - you're in trouble. Learn the signs - and how to protect yourself.

Digestive Issues

Perhaps the most common and obvious, Candida can cause digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and diarrhea.

As a yeast, Candida "ferments" and can cause symptoms similar to what you could imagine bread does when it rises or Kombucha does as it matures -- bubbling, bloating, etc. is common.

Chronic Fatigue

Candida can suppress the immune system, causing fatigue. Just living your life becomes infinitely harder, because your body is constantly fighting off an invader that isn’t supposed to be there.

Candida can also cause nutrient deficiencies, which can increase fatigue, because your body isn’t getting the support it needs.

Autoimmune Disease/s

When you have Candida, your gut lining becomes damaged and more permeable.

Food particles, toxins, etc. can escape the gut and cause the immune system to become reactive.

Multiple Sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto's, etc. could all be (at least partially) traced back to Candida.

Mental Health Issues

ADD/ADHD, anxiety, panic disorder, poor memory, brain fog, depression, etc. can all be tied to Candida overgrowth.

Mental health issues are complex and multi-fold and never have one cause; but Candida can be involved.

Yeast Infections

Candida is a yeast, and it can spread throughout the body. It can cause Candidiasis of the mouth, the skin, the vaginal canal, etc.

Recurrent yeast infections could be a sign of Candida overgrowth that has spread beyond the digestive system.

Allergies

Heightened allergic responses can be tied back to Candida.

The immune system is already on overdrive because it is managing the invader that is Candida, and an allergic reaction on top of that can cause a huge response.

Intense Sugar Cravings

Candida is a yeast, and yeast feeds on sugar/carbohydrates to survive.

When you have extreme sugar cravings, that almost do not feel like your own, it could actually be the Candida that is craving it, not you.

The more sugar you eat, the more the Candida grows, and the more sugar it craves.

Skin Issues

Eczema, psoriasis, hives, rashes, and more can be traced back to Candida overgrowth.

Candida can leave the digestive system and grow in other places on the body, including the skin.

Fungal Infections

Skin and nail fungal infections are common - athlete's foot, ringworm, and toenail fungus are common signs.

Candida can leave the digestive system, travel through the bloodstream, and colonize on your nails, skin, etc. - almost anywhere.

Iron Deficiency Anemia

This relationship is complex and nuanced, but still very worth mentioning. Candida feeds on iron (among other things), so if you take iron supplements or eat iron-rich foods and have Candida, you’re feeding Candida and not getting the iron to your body.

Test Don't Guess

The GI Map is the best way to see for sure if you have Candida. Here is an example from a client of mine of what Candida overgrowth looks like on the lab test:

After 4 months of the eradication protocol, the Candida is GONE, along with her many symptoms caused by the overgrowth. She no longer gets yeast infections, sugar cravings, random breakouts, rashes or panic attacks, and she has her energy back.
